Norman T. 'Diddy' Macintyre

Norman T. 'Diddy' Macintyre
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Norman T. (Diddy) MacIntyre, 84, on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Florence on January 27, 1934, he was the son of the late Norman and Eva (Boutilier) MacIntyre. He started working at a young age in Florence Colliery and eventually retired from Prince Mine, Point Aconi in 1990. He was a competitive card player, who especially enjoyed his forty–five games; and would love to remind us how good he was…..lol. Through the years Dad has left us with some wonderful memories; he would often be found strolling around the block with the grandkids in tow and cherishing the time spent with each and every one of them. Dad will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Thelma (MacDougall); his three boys, James (Chi) Sydney Mines, Bernard (Suzanne), Leitches Creek, and Richard (Belinda), Sydney Mines; and his daughters, Brenda (Darrell Jessome), Sydney Mines, Flora (John Brennick), Bras d’Or, and Linda (Loddie Osmond), Florence. He is also survived by his eldest grandson, Daniel (Cathy) Sydney Mines, whom he referred to as his son and best coffee buddy; grandchildren, Brady, Nadia, Kayla, Krista, Tasha, Nathan, Michaela, Katelyn, Marissa, Juliana, Matthew, Lodrick, Kassandra, Brianna; also his great-grandchildren, Brandon, Logan, Lodrick, Isabella, Parker, Cole and one great-great-grandchild, Myla; many nieces, nephews and our close family friend, Christene, who was like a daughter to Da. Norman is also survived by sisters, Isabene (Vincent Legatto), Mary Gardiner, and Lesina Edwards, and brothers, Melvin (Laurena) and Ricky, all of Sydney Mines. Beside his parents, Norman was predeceased by a daughter, Bonnie in infancy; sisters, Margaret, Helena, Leona, Catherine (K), Naomi, Lillian, Geraldine and brothers Phillip, Danny and Ronald. We also take great comfort in knowing that Dad is reunited with his special granddaughter, Dana Jessome. The family extends a special thanks to the staff and administration of Dr. Doug Kohlsmith, Northside Homemakers, Palliative Care and VON for their outstanding care and kindness during our father’s final days. A celebration of his life will take place on Friday, March 9, 2018, at 2 p.m. in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. James Oliver officiating. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to his family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
