Neil Webster
Neil Webster, age 87, of Sydney Mines, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2019, at the Northside Community Guest Home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Sydney Mines December 24, 1931, he was the son of the late John and Margaret (MacNeil) Webster. He was a member of Immaculate Conception parish until he moved to the Northside Community Guest Home in North Sydney. Neil was a loyal and steadfast Toronto Blue Jay fan. He worked for the Cape Breton Development Corporation and played for the Franklin Juniors. He was very active in the community as a volunteer fire fighter in Sydney Mines and a district commissioner of Scouts Canada. Neil was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He lived a rich and fulfilling life despite many health challenges. He was an inspiration to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Neil is survived by his daughters, Sandra (Les) Bonnar, Sydney Mines and Georgina (Fred) Mau Petawawa; sons, Tim Webster (Claude), Ottawa, Scott (Caroline) Webster; also survived by long time family friends, Greg and Marie MacKinnon, Edmonton; granddaughter, Laura; grandsons, Dale, Adrian, Jamie, Stephen, Ryan, and Brandon. Neil had six great-grandchildren that he cherished, Owen, Jack, Liam, Timothy, Charley and Avery. He will be dearly missed by his last surviving sibling sister, Elizabeth (Myles) Connolly. Besides his parents, Neil was predeceased by his loving wife, Anne (Robertson) Webster; sister, Christina Gaucci and brothers, George, David, Frank and Charles. Visitation will take place Sunday, May 12th, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Jobes Funeral Home, Main Street Sydney Mines. Funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Jim Oliver officiating. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of the Northside Community Guest Home for the compassion and wonderful care throughout Dad’s journey.
