With heavy hearts, we regret to announce the passing of our father, Mohamed Maftah Ammari, age 56, on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his family. Born on February 27, 1961 in Libya, Mohamed was the son of Fatima Mahmoud Jelali and the late Muftah Mohamed Ammari. Mohamed loved his family in Libya and later moved to Canada to complete university, but visited back home as often as he could. He successfully graduated from Cape Breton University and became an Electronic Technician. Years later Mohamed bought a car to become a cab driver for City Wide Taxi in which he was the most caring, happiest, strong and much loved. In 1992, Mohamed met his beloved partner, mother of his children, Alana Boutilier, she shares the most beautiful priority in his life, Khadijah Destiny, Aisha Desiree and Fatima Danae. He also shares his three other daughters that he raised as his own, Jalisa, Krystal and Tara; seven grandchildren, MacKenzie, Brooklyn, Mannix, Leland, Hannah, Wyatt, Gemma, and his best friend, Pius Keough, whom he lived with for 15 years. Mohamed also leaves behind eight siblings, Mohra, Kadija, Souad, Rabaa, Asma, Abu, Bakker, Othman and Mahmoud, and his mother, Fatima Mahmoud Jelali. Besides his father, Mohamed was predeceased by two brothers, Omar and Ali. Mohamed loved life and to help others in need. His big smile could light a room and his positive and strong personality was the best everyone loves him. Funeral Service to celebrate the life of Mohamed Maftah Ammari will be held in Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks. Donations in memory of Mohamed may be made to charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
