It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Melvin G. Hatcher, 72, on Friday, March 22, 2019. Melvin was born in North Sydney, August 18, 1946, he was the son of the late Charles and Dorothy (Billard) Hatcher. He enjoyed a successful career as an RN and later went on to obtain his masters in hairdressing. Mel is survived by his daughter, Tammy, and granddaughter, Brianna; sisters, Thelma (Bill) MacLennan, Dalem Lake, Hilda Hatcher, North Sydney; brother-in-law, Robert Anderson, Sydney Mines; nieces and nephews, Diane (Steve) Power, Lisa (Sheldon Reid) MacLennan, Gail (Darren MacKeigan) Giaannandrea, Kim (Alfie) Pendergast, Christopher (Amanda) Anderson; great-nieces and nephews, Logan, Megan, Ryan, Cate, Brianna, Xavier, Carter, Abigail and Zoe. He was predeceased by his sister, Sharon Anderson. The family would like to thank Dr. John Kirkpatrick for the excellent care and attention that he provided to Mel. There will be no visitation by request. A funeral service for Melvin will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 10 a.m. in J M Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia. A burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney. Arrangements are under the care and direction of J M Jobes Funeral Home.
