Maurice 'Moe' Ashton — Sydney

Maurice ‘Moe’ passed on April 2, 2018 in palliative care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital at the age of 78. He was born in England and was the son of (the late) Frank and Hilda (Heap) Ashton. He was active in minor hockey, loved to fish and spend time gardening. Moe loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Other hobbies he enjoyed include cheering on his favorite soccer team, Manchester United, and researching his family tree on Ancestry. com. He is survived by his wife, Betty; half-brother, William ‘Billy’ Ashton and family; four sons, Paul (Shelly) of Moncton and his children Emily and Christopher (Amy), Christopher (Jennifer) of Halifax and their children Nathan and Abbey, Brian (Kelly) of New Glasgow and their children Jena and Justin (Jade) and their children Marley Rae and Aspen, Mark (Tiffany) and her daughter Madison; step-daughter, Amy of Seattle; step-sons, Austin (Amanda) of Minneapolis, Brian (Olivia) of Cape Breton and their daughter Sadie and his step-daughter Shakira; daughter-in-law, Kathy of Moncton. He was preceded in death by step-father, Mark Harmer. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of MacAskill funeral Home, Baddeck, NS. The funeral will be held at a later time and date to be announced with Rev. Peter MacDonald officiating.
