MARYBELLE MARTELL

Funeral service for the late MaryBelle Martell, 85, Little Anse, Richmond County, was held August 17 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Petit De Grat, with Father Michel Exalant officiating. Burial was in Star of the Sea Cemetery, Petit de Grat. Mrs. Martell died August 14, 2018, in St Martha’s Hospital, Antigonish. Born August 30, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Willie and Obeline Martell. As the owner of MaryBelle’s Canteen, she was well known in the communities of Little Anse and Sampson’s Cove. She enjoyed playing cards and listening to music. She is survived by two daughters, Della Thibeau (Ted) Petit De Grat; Marlene Martell; grandchildren, Tina Foley (Rich), Brian Thibeau (Julie), both of Halifax; Rodney Thibeau (Grace), D’Escousse; Allana Scanlan (John), Little Anse; Makayla Scanlan (Joe), Halifax; five great-grandchildren, Brett Thibeau, Tyson Foley, Isabelle Thibeau, Annik Foley, Emilie Thibeau; many nieces, nephews and godchildren; friend, Randy Samson. She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Martell; granddaughter, Micheline; three sisters, Rita, Eva, Mary; three brothers, Alphonse, Lawrence. Charlie.
