Mary Mckay — Ottawa

Mary Roselyn McKay (Nee Burgess) passed away peacefully on Friday, May 17, 2019 at the Queensway Carleton Hospital in Ottawa, ON, in her 80th year. Mary was living in Oxford Mills, ON, at the time of her passing, but she had been a longtime resident of Toronto/Mississauga, ON. Originally from Upper Dyke Village, she has always been a proud Nova Scotian at heart. Mary was predeceased by her adoring husband Gordon. Loving mother to Debbie (Spiro) Marinos of Scarborough, ON, Cathy DeJong of East York, ON, and Shelley (Chris) Young of Oxford Mills, ON. Cherished Grandma/Momma of Sabrina, Brandi, Tommy, Kaylee, Danny, Chloe & Kamryn. She is survived by her siblings Patricia (Paul) Ross of Kentville, NS & James Burgess of Upper Dyke Village, NS; and is predeceased by her parents Archibald & Mary Priscilla Burgess, her brothers Ken, Wilfred, William, Richard, Albert, John, Cecil, Peter & Paul, as well as her son-in-law Jacobus “Buz” DeJong. Fondly remembered by her many nieces & nephews. A funeral service was held on May 27, 2019 at The Simple Alternative Funeral Home in Mississauga, ON; a request was made by the family that donations be sent to The Lung Association or the Canadian Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
