Mary Margaret 'Peggy' Myette

Funeral service for the late Mary Margaret ‘Peggy’ Myette, 69, Tracadie, Antigonish County, was held August 6 in St. Peter’s Church, Tracadie, with Father John Barry officiating.

Mrs. Myette died August 2, 2019, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.

Readers at the funeral Mass were two granddaughters, Kelsey Johnson, Jessa Gardiner-Myette and Angie Connors. Grandson B.J. Johnson and granddaughter Madison Myette presented the offertory gifts. Eucharistic minister was Alice Mattie. Music was provided by Tracey Wallace and Stevie Wallace.

Urn bearer was husband Donnie Myette.

Born March 24, 1950, in Roman Valley, Guysborough County, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Annie (Quirk) Hanrahan.  She moved to North Grant, Antigonish County, then the Town of Antigonish, and finally to Tracadie. She worked as a custodian for 22 years with the Strait Regional Regional School Board.  She was known for her beautiful garland and wreaths, providing decorations for many during the Christmas season. Throughout her life, she was an avid skier and baseball player. She enjoyed many adventures on Keppoch ski hill and was proud to be back catcher #32 for her team - the Tracadie Jays. She had a special love for animals, especially abandoned and stray cats. She was an avid gardener, producing vegetable gardens, flower gardens, and orchid.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Donnie Myette, Tracadie; daughter, Diane (Barry) Johnson, West Arm Tracadie; son, Gary (Danielle Keough), Fall River; four grandchildren, Kelsey, Jessa, BJ, Madison; sister, Marguerite (Doug) Holmes; niece, Karen (Brian) Clifton; many in-laws.

Memorial donations may be made to the Antigonish Town & County Palliative Care Society or the Alzheimer Society.
