Mary Macdonald — London

Mary Macdonald
Mary passed away peacefully in London, Ontario on Sunday, February 10, 2019 in her 100th year. She was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, the daughter of Agnes (nee MacDougall) and Joseph MacMullin. Mary is survived by her four children, sons, Roland (MaryAnne), Sandy, Cam (late wife Leslie); and her daughter, Kyle and her husband, John Franklin. She is also survived by many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Sam MacDonald (1978), and all of her siblings from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia; her sister, Margaret, and her brothers, Hughie, Benny, Jocus, Lawrence and Anslem. Mary enjoyed wonderful friendships with so many people across North America. She wintered in Florida for over 30 years, and summered in Grand Bend, Ontario. Many of her friends - both Canadian and American - often came to visit in Ontario. She was a gracious hostess, a devoted friend and a loving mother with a passion for music and life, and she enjoyed a serious interest in politics - both in Canada and the US. She spent her working life at BMO Bank of Montreal, and many of her closest friends were colleagues from her early days in Toronto. She enjoyed an extensive network of friends given her husband Sam's military service as an RCR Captain. She will be sadly missed by her friends and family. Special thanks to her family doctor, Dr. Ashtarani and his colleagues in Exeter and Stratford, and the amazing team of Caregivers from Home Instead Senior Care in London for their years of love, attention and care. A Visitation and "Celebration of Life" will be organized in June, closer to Mary's 100th Birthday. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Women's Community House in London. Arrangements entrusted with A. Millard George Funeral Home, 519-433-5184. Online condolences, memories and photographs shared at www.amgfh.com.
