We regret to announce the passing of Mary (McEvoy) Ferguson, age 95, at the Highland Manor in Neil's Harbour on Tuesday, March 27, 2018. Born in Cape North on March 7, 1923, Mary was the oldest of Tingley and Tippy (Wilkie) McEvoy. After living in Sydney for many years, she moved to Cape North and eventually entered Highland Manor. She leaves behind her family, Charlie (Helen), Ingonish, Everett (Lois), Whitney Pier, and daughter, Sis (Neil Courtney deceased), Cape North. She is also survived by brothers, Hansel and Lewis; sisters, Violet, Ruth and Gladys; special sisters, Tena and Ellen; niece, Ruby, and numerous other nieces and nephews, and her grandchildren, Donna (Dan Oakes), Brantford, ON, Patricia (Lantz), Stuart (Angela), Ingonish, Joey (Kristelle), Fox Creek/Neil’s Harbour, Olivia (Chris) Newfoundland and Virginia (Doug), Antigonish; nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Stewart (Duke) Ferguson in 1989; brothers, Bennett, John, Fred and Jim; sisters, Eliza and Annie, and daughter-in-law, Mary Anne (Gillis) Ferguson. A celebration of her life will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2018 in Aspy Bay United Church, with Sylvia Fitzgerald officiating. A gathering will follow in the Cape North Hall.
