Funeral service for the late Mary Helen Samson, 78, was held August 31 in Our Lady of Assumption Church with Father Michel Exalant officiating. Mrs. Samson died August 25, 2018, at home. She was a daughter of the late Gordon and Dorothy LeBlanc. She enjoyed helping others and her community. With her fellow volunteers, she prepared countless meals at the New Horizon Senior Centre. With her companion Daisy at her side, they brightened the lives of seniors for many years as volunteers for the St. John’s Ambulance Therapy Dog program. She and her husband enjoyed going to bluegrass festivals throughout Nova Scotia and formed lasting friendships and cherished memories. She enjoyed picking blueberries, a beach stroll at low tide to search for sea glass and a full house for supper, topped off by a game of Pay-me. She is survived by her husband, Venard; daughter, Susan (Wade) Goodman; granddaughter, Michaella; her son, Paul (Allen); four stepchildren, Sherma (Wayne) Boudreau; Della (Jerry) Maltby; Rodney Samson; Tanya (John) Myatt; their children and grandchildren; sister, Yvonne (John) Samson; brother, Ronald (Connie) Leblanc; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four sisters, Anna Cameron, Violet MacDonald, Jean Dorey, Jeannine Boudreau; brother, Sandy Leblanc.
