Mary ‘Daisy’ Elizabeth Grover
Funeral service for the late Mary ‘Daisy’ Elizabeth Grover, 81, Upper White Head, Guysborough County, was held October 29 in Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Canso, with Father Jonathan Nnajiofor officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery, Port Felix. Mrs. Grover died October 23, 2018. Born January 7, 1937, in Canso, she was a daughter of the late Margaret Alma (Mason) and Cecil Joseph Parker. While living in Milton, Ontario, from 1963 to 1967, she worked several years at E.C. Drury School for the Deaf. After returning to Whitehead in 1967, she went to work at the Canso fish plant for a number of years. She enjoyed going to bingo and card plays. She was a member of the White Head Dart League and the Royal Canadian Legion Dart League in Canso. In her younger years, she loved to go dancing with her husband. They both loved bluegrass and country music and travelled the province to attend festivals. She was a volunteer for the White Head Fire Department Auxiliary and a choir member in St. Joseph’s Parish, Port Felix and Star of the Sea Parish, Canso. She is survived by four daughters, Juanita (Mike) Dort, Donna (Blair) Horne, Arlene (Dave) Bannister, Coleen (Darren) Wright; son, Dougie Grover; son-in-law, Rob (Marlaine) Myatt; 15 grandchildren, Rachael, Erin, Michael, Lisa, Jamie, Mary, Blaise, Kyle, Rob, Jonathan, Jessica, Courtney, Daniel, Mary Ann, Jason; nine great-grandchildren; six sisters, Theresa MacPhee, Brenda Bond, Coleen (Tom) Bouchie, Gertie (Roger) Grant, Marilyn (Eddie) Rossong, Rita (Neil) Collins; six brothers, Tom (Doris) Parker, Bill (Pauline) Parker, Steve (Christena) Parker, Dave Parker, Johnny (Marg) Parker, Nelson Parker; aunt, Gertie Snow; many nieces and nephews; Heidi Bouchie. She was predeceased by her husband, Doug; a child in infancy; daughter, Janice; son, Cecil; grandson, Myles; two brothers, Charlie, Cecil; four sisters-in-law, Anne, O’Dessa, Joanne, Rosie; two brothers-in-law, Horace, Clarence.
