Marie Viva
VIVA, Marie North Sydney It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Marie Viva, age 91, on Monday, August 5, 2019 at the Northside General Hospital. Marie was the daughter of the late Hilda (Mac Dermott) and Archie Anderson. She is survived by her loving son, Wayne and dear daughter-in-law, Karen, Summerside, PE; her much loved grandson, Zachary (Becca), and her affectionate and loyal pupster Zoey. Marie was predeceased by her dear husband, Joseph; brother, Kenneth Anderson; sister, Vera Graham; brother-in-law, Buddy Roberts, and niece, Judy Jackson. She is also survived by her sister, Minnie Roberts; sister-in-law, Phyllis Anderson, and all her loving nieces and nephews, as well as many dear and special friends. Marie was a dedicated member of St. Matthew Wesley United Church and was employed for many years with Maritime Tel & Tel in both North Sydney and Sydney until her retirement in 1983. Marie was an incredibly loyal wife who very much loved her husband Joe and the wonderful life and family they created together. During his long and challenging battle with Alzheimer disease Marie travelled every day (never missing a day) to Harbourview Hospital to take care of her beloved Joe. Their great love and her strong commitment and dedication was truly amazing and an inspiration to us all. Marie was an ageless beauty with an infectious smile and a fun-loving personality. She was very young at heart and loved to entertain and spread joy and laughter everywhere she went. Marie was a wonderful mother, an awesome grandmother and always a very kind, caring and loyal friend. Marie danced her way happily through life... and oh what a dance it was. We were all so lucky to be a part of it. Love you always Nan and we miss you already. Thanks so much for being you. Xo. We, the family, would like to express our gratitude and give special thanks to Dr. Hickey, Dr. Wambolt, Dr. Poulos and Dr. Butler (Glace Bay) and all the compassionate palliative care nurses and staff at the Northside General for taking such wonderful care of Marie during this very difficult time. To honour Marie's wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 9, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew Wesley United Church in North Sydney with Rev. Nick Phillips officiating, followed by a lunch and a Celebration of Marie's Life. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, North Sydney. Online condolences may be sent to www.wjdooley.com.
