Marie Elizabeth Nunn

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Marie Elizabeth Nunn, 87, on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Taigh Solas, Northside General Hospital. Born in Bras d’Or on April 26, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Ella (Tobin) Laffin. Mom was a long-time member of the Florence Legion Ladies Auxiliary, where she held many offices over the years. She enjoyed bowling, darts, Bingo and card games. Marie was an avid baseball fan. She loved music and dancing. She was well known for her cooking and hospitality. Marie is survived by sons, Patrick (Virginia), Point Aconi and Stanley (Connie), Chezzetcook, NS; her daughter, Doris (Sheldon), Bras d’Or; daughter-in-law, Renee, North Sydney, and sister, Ella Mae Marsh, Mill Creek. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Tara, Cory, Molly, Brandon, Mallory, Jerry, Ryan and Kaitlyn, and great-grandchildren, Damien, Mason, Maddison and Abigail Marie. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Gerald (Sonny); son, Ernie; brothers, Terrence, John, Daniel, William, Robert and Nicholas, and sisters, Laura, Frances, Irene and a sister in infancy. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors on Thursday, February 22, 2018, from 10 – 11 a.m. in J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Main St., Sydney Mines.
