Margaret ‘Paddy’ Macdonald
Funeral service for the late Margaret ‘Paddy’ MacDonald, 89, formerly of James River, Antigonish County, was held September 20 in St. Joseph’s Church, St. Josephs, with Father Lazarus Guria officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mrs. MacDonald died September 16, in R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish. Readers at the funeral Mass were Gina Dull, Maura MacDonald and Melanie Bremner. Brent MacDonald, Melissa Lutes and Allison MacDonald presented the offertory gifts. Music was provided by Tyrus Wallace. Pallbearers were Amanda Lutes, Jennifer Lutes, Tyler Chisholm, Daniel Chisholm, Peter MacDonald, Andrew MacDonald, Lauren MacDonald and Matthew MacDonald. Born January 21, 1929, in Croft, St. Andrews, Antigonish County, she was a daughter of the late Ben and Sarah (MacDonald) Grace. She was a member of St. Joseph’s CWL for 60 years. She enjoyed playing auction and bingo. She always had a fresh loaf of bread on the counter and a piece of homemade cheese. Many haymakers enjoyed her home cooked meals. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and they enjoyed many after school stops at ‘Grams’ for a cookie and a game of cards. She is survived by three sons, Donnie (Karen), John (Lisa), Doug (Kim), all of James River; two daughters, Carol Ann (Rupert) Lutes, Campbellton, New Brunswick; Charlene (Shaun) Chisholm, James River; 14 grandchildren, Gina, Matthew, Melanie, Allison, Jennifer, Melissa, Amanda, Lauren, Andrew, Brent, Peter, Maura, Tyler, Daniel; three great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Mia, Henry; two brothers, Everett, Francis, Antigonish. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter ‘Paddy’ MacDonald; four brothers, Leonard, Charlie, Albert, Lou; three sisters, Kathleen, Annabelle, Annie. Memorial donations may be made to the R.K.
