Margaret Catherine Armsworthy
Margaret Catherine “Kay”, age 88, formerly of New Waterford passed away peacefully on November 23, 2018, in Harbourview Lodge, Sheet Harbour. Born February 19, 1930, in Queensport, she was the daughter of the late James and Anastasia (O'Leary) George. Kay completed her nursing training (CNA) in Montreal, working there and in Halifax before staying at home to raise her family. She loved to sew, cook, and was an avid baker. She also loved to play cards (especially Tarbish and Crib). Kay had a strong religious faith and family always came first. She enjoyed camping and swimming during the summers and, winters were spent at the rink cheering for her grandkids who played hockey. Left to mourn are her loving sons, William (Candace) Sober Island; Blair (Connie) New Waterford; Darrell (Leann) Mira; Ray Charles (Stacey) Bowmanville, ON; loving daughters, Deborah (Pius) Walker, Elmsdale; Raylene (Dale) Armsworthy, Fredericton, NB; brothers, Albert (Jeanette)George Louisdale; Eldon (Shirley) George Petit-de-Grat; and sister, Margaret (Ken) Barter, AB. Also left to mourn are Kay's pride and joy, her 16 grandchildren Ainslie, Harry, Robert, Jessica, Elliot, Jaclyn, Ryan, Darren, Jaclyn, James, Deven, Meghan, Benjamin, Madison, Jillian and Blair and 10 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Kay was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Ray Elliot. There will be no visitation as per Kay's wishes. Cremation has taken place under the direction of D.S. Crowell & Son Funeral Home Ltd. Sheet Harbour. A Mass of Christian burial celebrating Kay's life will take place on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sheet Harbour, Father Fabian officiating. All are welcome to attend a reception following the Mass at the Sheet Harbour Legion. Interment will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery, New Waterford at a later date.
