Funeral service for the late Malcolm Alexander MacDonald, 86, was held September 3 in St. Margaret of Scotland Roman Catholic Church, River Denys Mountain, with Father Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mr. MacDonald died August 31, 2018, in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital. Born May 30, 1932, on River Denys Mountain, Inverness County, he was a son of the late Duncan A. and Katherine (MacMaster) MacDonald. He retired from forestry and pipefitting and was a member of The Plumbers, Pipe Fitters and Welders Union, Local 682, Sydney, until his last contract in Fort McMurray, at age 79 years. He was a hard-working man, who loved Celtic music, Cape Breton, horses, cattle, reading newspapers, politics, Ford trucks and good food. He is survived by 10 children, Sandi, Catherine (Dan), Karen (Joe), Malcolm Jr., Glen (Ann), Leonard (Elizabeth), Lesa (Chris), Kim (Ken), John Leo (Lesa), Dan (Mandy); 17 grandchildren, Britney, Alex, Brandon, Janice, Travis, Tara, Olivia, Emily, Caroline, Chloe, Charles, Alexsandra, Lauren, Kendra, Spencer, Kennedy and Rhylan; great-grandson, Luke; two sisters, Anne (Michael), Jean (Jim); brother, Paul (Pam). He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Mary Jo (Farrell); three sisters, Teresa, Helen, Elaine; four brothers, Donnie, Francis, Leo, Charlie.
