Funeral service for the late Mabel Evelyn Francis, 88, Drum Head, Guysborough County, was held August 30 in Seal Harbour United Baptist Church with Lewis MacIntosh officiating. Burial was in Seaside Cemetery, Seal Harbour.

Mrs. Francis died August 26, 2019, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.

Born in Seal Harbour, Guysborough County, she was a daughter of the late Winfield and Lillian (Hendsbee) Fanning. As a young girl, she started working at Drum Head Fisheries and later at Port Bickerton Industries. She was a quilter for many years and enjoyed playing cards and having people come to visit. She was an adherent of Seal Harbour United Baptist Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Donna (Ellis) Kaiser, Port Bickerton; Vonnie Jack, Seal Harbour; Gwen (Fraser) Gammon, DrumHead; six grandchildren, Claudia (Colin) Matheson, Everett Jack, Trenda Jack, Lane (Patricia) Kaiser, Peter Gammon, Patrick Gammon; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Kimmie Gammon; several nieces, nephews and their families.

She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, John Francis; three brothers, Everett (Muriel) Fanning, Douglas (Irene) Fanning, Lester (Rose) Fanning; three sisters, Thelma (Ben) Oxenham, Louisa Fanning; one, in infancy; son-in-law, Jim Jack.

Memorial donations may be made to Seal Harbour United Baptist Church or Seaside Cemetery Fund.
