Lyle Mackenzie
MACKENZIE, Lyle Francis We regret to announce the passing of Lyle Francis MacKenzie, 55 of Sydney on October 8, 2019 after a brief battle with cancer. Lyle was born March 3, 1964 to the late Samuel MacKenzie and Carolyn (Girlie Maxwell) MacKenzie. Lyle was a fun outgoing guy who liked to have a good time. Lyle worked his early years in the maintenance department of Keddy’s Moor Inn until he was in the swimming accident which left him quadriplegic for the past 29 years. He lived on his own terms right up until the end. Lyle is survived by his daughter, Tosha Rideout, Montreal; and son, Jay Rideout (Symone) Upper Leitches Creek. Also, five sisters, Joanne Vassallo (Bernie) Dingwall, Cathy MacKenzie (Hermie), Mountain Road, Caroline MacKenzie (Victor) Ball’s Creek, LaurieMacKenzie, Upper Leitches Creek, Jody Marie MacKenzie, Mountain Road. Five brothers, John MacKenzie (Karen) Kingston Ont., Dean MacKenzie (Lois), North Sydney, Roger MacKenzie (Angela), Upper Leitches Creek, Tommy MacKenzie (Maddy), Upper Leitches Creek, Jamie MacKenzie (Maureen), Welland, Ont. And many nieces and nephews. Also, mourned by his ex-wife, Freda Hearn (Dennis); his caregiver, Gina Mauger Woolridge; lifetime friend, and Shawna Skinner. Lyle would like to thank the VON who visited him for many years and the Doctors and Palliative Care. As per Lyle’s request his body was donated to Dalhousie University, service and burial at a later date. There will be a gathering of the family and friends at his home on Friday, October 11, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. at 3 Cape Court, Sydney. Donations can be made to the Rick Hansen Foundation or the IWK as Lyle liked helping kids.
