It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lydia Winnifred Pitts, age 64, after a short battle with cancer, on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her family and close friends. Born in Stellarton, on March 25, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Kathleen (Hoare) Pitts. Lydia enjoyed her computer games, watching her favourite television program “Coronation Street”, going to dances, but most of all spending time with her family, close friends and especially her grandchildren. Lydia is survived by her sons, Shaun Pitts (Tanya Haggett), North Sydney, Bobby (Jenn) Reid, Donkin; her grandchildren, Megan, Alessa and Cadence Pitts, Avery and Brennan Reid, her sisters, Jacqueline Diamond, New Glasgow, Sylvia Burris, Truro, a brother, John (Lois) Pitts, Point Aconi, by her close friends Mary Gosbee, Judy Reid, Mary and Melvin White. Besides her parents, Lydia was predeceased by her sister, Carolyn Pitts and close friend, Debbie Pearce. Visitation for Lydia will be held from 9-11 a.m. Monday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A funeral service will then be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Funeral Home Chapel with Marjorie Serafinus officiating. Burial will take place in Stellarton at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.wjdooley.com .
