Louis Pothier — Yarmouth

POTHIER, Louis Joseph – Age 85, of Surette’s Island, passed away on February 18th, 2018, at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital, Yarmouth. Born in Wedgeport on February 13th, 1933, he was a son of the late Albenie and Adline (Fitzgerald) Pothier. Louis loved his family. He loved to cook for family gatherings especially his turkey dinners. He was well known and will be sadly missed by many. He worked scallop fishing and later for Marine Atlantic for 22 years from where he retired. Louis is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Ann (Muise) Pothier; children, Mitchell (Victoria), Yarmouth; Cindy (Edgar) LeBlanc, Little River; Gloria (Gordon) Surette, Morris Island; siblings, Betty, Sylvia and Roseanne; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his grandsons, Shawn and Cody; 4 brothers; 4 sisters. Funeral arrangements were under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. By request there was no visitation. A funeral mass was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 21st, from Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, Surette’s Island, Father Maurice LeBlanc officiated. A burial was held in the parish cemetery following the mass. Donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Kidney Foundation or Saint Joseph’s Cemetery Fund.
