Leslie "Les" Karayz — White Rock

KARAYZ, Leslie “Les” George - 63, White Rock, NS passed away peacefully at home on Fri, August 25, with his loving wife by his side. Born in Tillsonburg, ON, he was the son of the late Leslie Karayz, and Cora (Karayz) Pineo. Les worked at different jobs, before working for Clifford Long & Sons Ltd mill in White Rock for 34 years. Following closure of the local mill, Les went to work for the Village of New Minas, and was well liked and respected by his co-workers. In his spare time, Les enjoyed hunting and fishing, and doing odd jobs for people in the community. Les is survived by his wife of 29 years, Valerie(Munroe) (Brown) Karayz; step-sons, Richard (Marilyn Atwell) Brown, Kentville; and Michael A. Brown, Kentville; mother, Cora Pineo and step-father, Malcolm Pineo, Wolfvile; sisters, Debbie Abdel-Kader, Pennsylvania; Donna (Robert) Smith, Booklyn; Diannah (John) Storrie, New Minas; Mary (Mathus) James, Caledon, ON, as well as grandchildren, several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Leslie Karayz. Cremation has taken place, and there will be no funeral service, as per his request, a Celebration of Life will be held Sunday September 10th 2017 from 12:00-3:00 at the Louis Millett center. The family would like to thank the staff of the VG Site, QEII, especially the hematologists, the Valley Regional Hospital, Dr. Peter Segato, and VON palliative care program services for their assistance and comfort at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
