Funeral service for the late Leo Henry Doiron, 93, Pomquet, Antigonish County, was held September 14 in Ste. Croix Church, Pomquet, with Father Andrew Gillies officiating, assisted by Deacon Art Riley. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mr. Doiron died September 11, 2018, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Readers at the funeral Mass were Colleen Doiron and Lynn Sampson. Courtney Jeffrey, Kelsey Jeffrey, Marley Sampson and Todd Sampson presented the offertory gifts. Music was provided by Ty Wallace. Pallbearers were Donald Landry, Daniel Landry, Maurice Doiron, Bruce Doiron, Brian Doiron and Blaise Doiron. Born in Pomquet, he was a son of the late Henry Wallace and Julia Amelia (Venedam) Doiron. He was a carpenter by trade, but a true farmer at heart. He loved being outdoors picking rocks, raking and making hay. He would spend hours at a time out in the woods. In his later years, he enjoyed playing solitaire on his iPad. He is survived by special nephew, Neil Doiron; two brothers, Dominic (Marie), Francis (Stella), both of Pomquet; three sisters, Rita Landry, Pomquet; Mary Cormier, New Jersey; Adele (Fred) Benoit, Pomquet; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Margaret Landry, Anna Doiron, brother, Georgie; three brothers-in-law, Joseph Landry, Alex Landry, Robert Cormier; sister-in-law, Josephine.
