Laura Maude MacLean
Funeral service for the late Laura Maude MacLean, 94, New Glasgow, was held February 5 in Second United Baptist Church, New Glasgow, with Reverend Dr. Moses B. Adekola and Reverend Matthew G. Lucas officiating. A private burial will take place at a later date.
Mrs. MacLean died January 29, 2019, in Glen Haven Manor.
Born February 14, 1924, in Sunnyville, Guysborough County, she was a daughter of the late John Gordon and Lillian Ann (Dorrington) Skinner. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting and gardening. She had a great sense of humour and zest for life. She was an active member of Second United Baptist Church. She was a member of the senior choir, the ladies auxiliary, finance committee, trustee committee and the social committee for many years. She was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 34, New Glasgow.
She is survived by seven daughters, Gloria, Halifax; Dianne (Leo), New Glasgow; Marva, Toronto; Lois (Wendell), Dartmouth; Glenda (Eugene), New Glasgow; Rhonda (Larry), Amherstburg, Ontario; Janice, Maryland, USA; six sons, Alvin (Gardy), Truro; Gary, Saint John; Reginald (Cathy), Westville; Randolph, Toronto; Sherman, Dartmouth; Kevin (Kelli), Bedford; three step-daughters, June, Sally, both of Windsor, Ont.; Patsy, St. Croix, Virgin Islands; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Elizabeth, Halifax; Pearl, New York; Rita, Antigonish; brother, Tom, Sunnyville.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alvin; daughter, Norma; three sisters, Hattie, Dorothy, Ella; eight brothers, Wilfred, Earle, Norman, Chester, John, George, Henry, in infancy; Lloyd; stepdaughter, Betty.
