Kenneth George Miles

Age 76, Truro, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 6, 2019 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Ken was born in Montreal, QC and was a son of the late George and Irene (Delaney) Miles. Following in his father’s footsteps, Ken joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1961 and served for 35 years, retiring in 1995 as Chief Petty Officer 2nd class. He enjoyed his career with the Navy and served on many different ships. Upon retirement, he became a member of the Atlantic Chief and Petty Officer’s Association. Ken was one of the founding members of the new Saint Michael’s Church in Brule dedicating many hours to its construction. Upon moving to Truro, he became a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish and was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Muriel (Neatt); brothers, Patrick (Brenda) MacDonald, Joe (Pam) MacDonald as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Irene Miles; step father, Michael MacDonald. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, January 11 at 11am in Immaculate Conception Church, 669 Prince St., Truro with Father Cristinel Fartadi, officiating. Reception will follow in Campbell Hall. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Ken’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro.
