Joshua Steven Sutherland

It is with profound sadness that the family of Joshua Steven Sutherland announces his passing on June 1, 2018 in Red Deer, Alberta. Josh was born on August 20, 1992 in New Glasgow, NS. He is survived by his parents Steven Sutherland (Tanya Gordon), Alma and Kimberley Pitts (Wayne McCarron), Trenton.  He graduated from North Nova Education Centre in New Glasgow in 2011, then attended NSCC in Halifax where he studied Marine-Industrial Rigging. He later moved out west and continued his education there, learning the pipefitting trade on the job. We were all immensely proud of Josh when he received his journeyman pipefitting accreditation in December 2017. He worked hard and was highly thought of by his coworkers and employers, never missing a day of work. Besides his parents, Josh will forever be remembered by the love of his life, his girlfriend Robyn Paxton of Pemberton, BC. He will also be loved and missed dearly by his siblings Evan (Melissa) Sutherland of Pemberton, BC and Casi Sutherland of Wolfville, NS, and step siblings Shyla MacPhee of Orono, ON and Devon MacPhee of New Glasgow, NS. Josh was the treasured grandson of Clarence and Mabel Sutherland and Danny and Barbara Pitts, all of Stellarton. He was the nephew of Sonya (Brad) Henderson and Sharon (Sandy) MacFarlane and cousin to Alex and Brae Henderson, Shyla (Craig) Francis and Lane MacFarlane. After leaving Nova Scotia, Josh lived in Ontario, Alberta and most recently Whistler and Pemberton, BC. He will be missed by his many good friends whom he adored, from coast to coast. Josh was predeceased by stepmother Marjory Sutherland. Josh was one of those people who you were immediately drawn to and couldn't help but love. He was an amazing, funny, sweet, hard working, fun loving and fiercely loyal person who will be deeply missed but affectionately remembered by so many people. A celebration of Josh's life will be held on Sunday June 10, 2018 where family will receive visitors upstairs at the Pictou County Wellness Centre from 3-6pm immediately followed by a memorial service. Family flowers only. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in Josh's name to the Brain Injury Association of Nova Scotia or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
