Josephine Elizabeth (Josie) Jardine

Josephine Elizabeth (Josie) Jardine
With deep regret, we announce the passing of Josephine Elizabeth Jardine (nee Pardy) of Victoria Dr. Sydney Mines, whose great heart mercifully failed her at noon on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, due to complications of a month-long pneumonia and lungs weakened by her cancer survival of 10 years ago. She remained a beauty at age 78. Josie was born in North Sydney, May 5, 1941, to the late Patrick and Julia (Richard) Pardy. Our beloved Josie (Ma) is survived by her devoted husband, of 61 years, Kenny Jardine, her daughter, Cathy; son, Ken and his wife Jean. Josie is also mourned by her grandchildren, David, Amy, Madlyn, Kensen and their partners, Kristen and Roland. Josie’s great-grandchildren, Hunter, Roman, Gracie, Jaeden and Ashton will all miss Nan. Her brothers, Ernie and Chris Pardy and sister, Mona Linder all residing in Ontario, also grieve this loss. Surviving extended family and friends are too numerous to mention. However, Ma would want to express her love of the entire Jardine clan near and far, her remaining Pardy family members, the Olivers, Farrows and Clan MacMillan. Especially grief-stricken are her nieces and nephews of the Jerrett and Bishop families, who were second children to this loving lady, all of whom loved her, in return, sharing the happiest of memories. We are truly appreciative of the affection shown to us by our neighbours of Mack’s Corner and Victoria Dr., Sydney Mines, particularly the Sullivan family. Additionally, we are truly grateful for the years of wonderful care provided Josie by Dr. Michel McKeough and the staff of the Northside General Hospital. Ma would fondly describe her childhood as poor but happy and loving on Gannon Road North Sydney. She and Kenny met while she was working at Wong’s restaurant, fell in love, and were married in 1958. As infants, Cathy and Ken were blessed to have been chosen by these wonderful parents as our family shared an idyllic 24 years on Mack’s Corner, in a house made a home through Ma’s love, hard work and excellent decorating skills. Her remaining 37 years were happily spent on Victoria Dr, Sydney Mines in the family home she and Da had built and where all were welcomed and loved. Of everything, Josie will be fondly remembered for her beauty, grace & style plus her inexhaustible willingness to laugh will surely top the list. She particularly enjoyed a clean house and doing just about anything with her sister Barb and seeing her husband, children, family and friends happy, which we were, in no small part, thanks to having this beautiful lady in our lives. Josephine Jardine was one of the hardest working, perceptive, caring, stubborn and intelligent people ever created. She believes in God and life everlasting. Her reasoning and faith were inspirational. Ma will have a joyful reunion with all her family and friends who have gone before her. Surely, she and her best friend and sister Barb Jarret are happily strolling the malls of Heaven. A little prayer for Ma, Da and our family would be appreciated. In lieu of flowers, Ma would have appreciated a donation to foster children, as she and Da did for many years, or the worthy cause of your choice. We thank you on her behalf for all your thoughts and prayers. We will gather to remember the good times at Jobes Funeral Home, Main St., Sydney Mines, on Monday, June 10, 2019, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, with Fr. Jim Oliver officiating. A reception will follow in the parish hall. Words of comfort may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
