Joseph Williams

It is with profound sadness, we announce the death of Joseph Williams, youngest son of the late Ralph E. and Harriet Williams. Born and educated in Sydney, he was employed at Sydney Steel Corporation for 42 years. Joseph was predeceased by the love of his life and partner in all adventures, his wife of 67 years, Elizabeth Taylor, on March 12, 2012. He is survived by his children, Geraldine, Jo-Anne, James and Phyllis; their spouses, Brian, John, Sara and James; six grandchildren, Robbie Y, Jennifer, Jonathan, Ryan, Megan, and Robbie M, and great-grandchildren, Miranda, Genese and Taylor. Joseph was an avid reader, especially in the area of history, and a great movie buff. He loved to travel and enjoyed his winter visits to Arizona. Although he found great peace and beauty with the scenery in Arizona, he always stated that East Bay was the most beautiful place on earth. He was a lifelong member of both the third and fourth degree Knights of Columbus. He was well known for his great sense of humor and love of music. Joseph encouraged his family to achieve success through higher education and proudly supported their many achievements, gifts and talents. He instilled love, strength, a sense of humor and encouraged his children to be supportive of each other in life. We feel grateful and blessed to have been loved by such a wonderful father. A sincere "Thank You" to all who shared in his health care, especially to family friend Steve Smyth for his many visits with Joseph. Visitation will take place from 7 to 9 p.m., October 21, 2018, Dartmouth Funeral Home, 29 Queen St, Dartmouth, NS, Mass of Christian burial October 22, 2018, at 11 a.m. St. John XXIII Catholic Church, Dartmouth. All who have been graced by his terrific sense of humor, shared in his outstanding talents and love are invited to gather to share memories at a reception in the church hall following Mass. In memory of Joseph, an act of kindness to a friend, family member, neighbor, stranger or someone in need would be appreciated.
