John Russell ‘Brian’ Fougere

Funeral service for the late John Russell ‘Brian’ Fougere, 61, Wilmot, was held August 29 in St. Monica’s Roman Catholic Church, Middleton, with Father John MacPherson and Reverend Deacon Don Boudreau officiating. Mr. Fougere died August 24, 2018, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born October 12, 1956, in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Russell and Laura (Wood) Fougere. He retired after 33 years as a junior high school teacher, having taught school at Middleton Regional High School. He coached senior boys volleyball and taught driver education. He was actively involved with the Nova Scotia Teachers Union and was a volunteer with the Royal Canadian Legion, Kingston Branch No. 98 and with CAPS Companion Animal Protection Society. He was an avid gardener, blueberry farmer, loved sports and enjoyed music. He is survived by his wife, Dawn (Shymko), Wilmot; son, Michael Fougere, Halifax; daughter, Chelsea Fougere, Bridgewater; sister, Laurella (David) O’Neil, Frankville; two brothers, James ‘Cliffy’ (Jan) Fougere, Kingston, Ontario; Rodney (Wendy) Fougere, Sudbury, Ont.; mother and father-in-law, Donald and Evelyn Shymko, Westville; three sisters-in-law, Eva Fougere, Sydney River; Debby (Harold) Linthorne, Rocklin; Lesley (Jason) Clish, Pictou; many nieces and nephews; special family friend, Wilena Arsenault, Middleton.
