MCISAAC, John Glace Bay It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. After a three-year courageous battle with cancer John went home on Sept. 6th, 2019. Born in #2 Glace Bay April 20, 1951, John was the son of the late Dan Joe and Edna (Petrie) McIsaac. Survived by his loving wife of 37 years Pauline (Landru); daughter, Joanna and son Ian (Devon) McIsaac. His brother and best friend Wishie (Linda); sisters, Anne (Duck) Ellsworth, Catherine (Charlie) Duhamel, Marley (Elroy) McNeil, Leone McIsaac and Debbie (Jim) MacLellan. Also, Poppy Johnny’s two little angels Scottie and Blossom McIsaac; several nieces and nephews and extended family. John also had a special relationship with his brother-in-law Gerald (Louise) Landru and the many friends that played a huge part in his life. John was a proud coal miner with DEVCO for 26 years. He was an avid fan of both the Blue Jays and the Leafs and had the experience of seeing them play. John had a lot of experience coaching beginning at the age of 17 coaching baseball. He coached Ian and Joanna in Baseball, Basketball and Hockey. While doing this he left a lasting impression on a lot of his players. Not only did John enjoy watching and coaching hockey he enjoyed playing with the “Guys on Tuesday Night”. Johnny loved playing the guitar especially around the campfire and family gatherings. He got a lot of miles out of the “Rooster Song”. John loved to travel with his family and friends especially to Cuba, Texas, Florida, Las Vegas, NYC and much of Canada. He was a member of the Glace Bay Lion’s Club, Reserve Mines Seniors and Pensioners Club, Adult Alter Server for St Anne’s Church, Cursillio and Challenge movements and volunteered with various charities and organizations. Bill W was John’s close friend for the past 24 years. John’s kind nature and great sense of humor is a legacy he leaves to all of us. In his memory please show kindness and remember laughter is very therapeutic. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his brother Joe and sisters Mary and Donna and three siblings, and nephew Noel in infancy. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday September 12, 2019, from 1-3 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. with Fr. Duaine Devereaux officiating and reception to follow. Private Burial at a later date. The family would like to extend our heartfelt thank you to Dr. Gordon Spencer, the extraordinary staff on the 3rd floor at the Glace Bay Hospital, 8Th floor at V.G Memorial Hospital Halifax, VON and Palliative Care especially Michelle Kelly. To John’s many family and friends who kept Johnny in their thoughts and prayers and to those who went above and beyond we are forever grateful for your many acts of kindness. Family flowers only.
