Funeral service for the late J. Arthur Fougere, 53, Tracadie, Antigonish, was held September 9 in St. Peter’s Church, Tracadie, with Father John Barry officiating, assisted by Deacon Art Riley. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Mr. Fougere died August 31, 2018, in Ottawa Hospital. Readers at the funeral Mass were Debbie Bowie, Anne-Marie Long and Carson Fougere. Crystal McKechnie, Russ Long and Shawn Fougere presented the offertory gifts. Music was provided by Crystal Mattie, Jackie Benoit, Dwayne Mattie, Derek LeBlanc and Anne-Marie Long. Donnie Pitts, Myles Somers and Sandy MacEachern were the altar servers. Urnbearers were Carson Fougere and Germaine Fougere. Local 752 Iron Workers formed an honour guard. Born November 28, 1964, in Antigonish, he was the son of the late Francis and Mary (Petipas) Fougere. He was a hard-working man with Local 752 Iron Workers for more than 30 years. He was a devoted husband for 24 years and a loving father, brother, uncle and friend. He loved the outdoors; fishing, hunting, and golfing were some of his passions. He also enjoyed a good laugh, rock music, reading, hockey and cooking/eating (especially any type of wild meat). His kindness and generosity were apparent till the end. He is survived by his wife, Debbie (née Jackson, Myette); four children, Brad Myette (Sherry Kozlowski), Falmouth; Chrissy Myette, Frankville; Catherine (Curtis) Bennett, Havre Boucher; Briana (Stephen Mattie), West Arm Tracadie; four grandchildren, Simon, Myra, Nate, Beau; three brothers, Carson (Yolande), North Bay, Ontario; Earle (Debbie), Windsor, ON; James (Linda), Quispamsis, N.B.; six sisters, Anne Marie Long, Tracadie; Theresa, Toronto, ON; Audrey, Antigonish; Betts, Tracadie; Monica (Bill) Riley, Windsor, ON; Germaine, Toronto, ON; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph, Richard; sister, Beatrice; brother-in-law, Gord Long. Memorial donations may be made to St. Peter’s Parish CWL, CACL Antigonish or a charity of choice.
