Isabel Mills Gillis

Funeral service for the late Isabel Mills Gillis, 85, formerly of Orangedale, was held November 28 in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, Antigonish, with Reverend Peter Smith officiating. Burial will be in Cape Breton in the spring. Mrs. Gillis died November 23, 2018, in R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish. A poem was read at the funeral service by grandson Ryan Gillis. Organist was Hee-Jung Choi. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late William and Edith (Wells) Busby. She raised her family in Orangedale with her husband, Lauchie, and enjoyed the simple life on the farm as a proud housekeeper. She enjoyed a cup of tea and making biscuits. She always had time for her many friends and had been active in her church. She is survived by son, Neil (Kathy), Antigonish; six grandchildren, Brian (Steena), Stephen, Jason, Ashley, Ryan (Kristy), Erin (Chris); two great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Doug McCaffery, Montreal. She was predeceased by her husband, Lauchie; two daughters, Edith McCaffery, Christine Gillis; sister, Marion Urquhart; three brothers, Edward, John, Harold.
