Funeral service for the late Helena Viola MacGillivary, 78, Antigonish, was held June 9 in St. Ninian Cathedral with Father Donald MacGillivray officiating. Mrs. MacGillivary died June 4, 2018, in R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish. Readers at the funeral Mass were Robyn MacGillivary and Nina Worth. Music was provided by Ty Wallace. Active pallbearers were James O’Brien, James Green, Stephen Green, Mike Worth, David Greencorn and Kaylin (Michael) Green. Honorary pallbearers were Marie Swim, Tanya DeCoste, Kendall Tate, Dawn McKenna, Julie Naugle, Morgan MacGillivary, Pierrette Pelly, Pam MacEachern and Keagan Green. Born August 4, 1939, in Erinville, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Worth) Kelly. She was a mainstay in her family and was the last surviving member of her large family of brothers and sisters. She is survived by three daughters, Marlene (Jim) O’Brien, Michelle MacGillivary (David), Marina (Jim) Green, all of Antigonish; 12 grandchildren, Melissa Ebbett, Katrina (Michael) Worth, Michael (Jesse) McCarthy, Sarah Pottie (Murray), Renee (Brian) MacIlwain, Chris MacGillivary (Katrina), Stephen Green (Megan), Kaylin Green, Keagen Green, Robyn MacGillivary, Kayla MacGillivary, Andrew MacGillivary; several great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by daughter, Wanda Lee; two sons, Stephen, Michael; fiancé, Frank; husband, Hugh. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
