Helen Nancy Young

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Nancy Young, age 72, on Friday, November 30, 2018 at the Halifax Infirmary. Born in Glace Bay and a longtime resident of Dominion, Helen was the daughter of the late Robert and Sophie (Phillips) Stubbert of Gardiner Mines. Helen is survived by her daughter, Nancy Young (Chris) MacDonald; grandsons, Noah and Riley MacDonald; sister, Jenny (Jim) Edwards; brothers, John, Ivan (Diane), George and Gilbert Stubbert; nieces, Hazel Gosbee Rudderham, Leona Gosbee, and nephews, Lonnie, Billy, and Jack Gosbee. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Bernie Young; sister, Eileen Whalen and brothers, Steven, Melvin and Robert Stubbert. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to GP, Dr. Jill Robertson, Dr. Colin McWilliams, and Registered Nurse, Hillary MacNeil of the Halifax Infirmary for the compassionate care provided. Helen was a wonderful, kindhearted, funny, artistic person and she will be dearly missed. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening December 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. followed by a funeral service on Friday at 11 a.m., all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Rev. Ruby Carter officiating. Interment in Good Shepherd Cemetery, Centerville Street. A luncheon will take place at Reserve Mines Seniors and Pensioners Club.
