Gregory Tyler Bernard

Funeral service for the late Gregory Tyler Bernard, 35, Paqtnkek Mi’kmaw Nation and Shubenacadie Mi’kmaw Nation, was held August 6 in Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton, with Father Andrew Gillies officiating, assisted by Deacon Art Riley. Burial was in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Summerside Road.

Mr. Bernard died July 31, 2019.

Readers at the funeral mass were Carolyn Jean Bernard, Charlotte Lafford and Annie Knockwood. Landon Bernard, Riley Paul and Clifford Googoo presented the offertory gifts. Music was provided by Heatherton Folk Choir.

Active pallbearers were Jordan Bernard, Alex McDonald, Jr. Warren Pictou, Jake Sark, Michael Sark, Byron Googoo, Jay Julian and Vincent Paulette.

Honorary pallbearers were Jason Pictou, Nicholas Pictou, Tma Francis, Antle Googoo, Nathan Johnson, Jeremy Paulette, Jamie LeDrew, Jimmy Johnson, Elijah Julian, Joe Roddy Clair, Trevor Gould, Darnell Johnson, Misal Lafford, Leroy Supernault, Germaine Glasgow, Kyle Prosper, Godfrey Pellerine, Randy Bernard, CJ Pictou, Nikki Pictou and Julius Johnson.

Born July 2, 1984, in Antigonish, he was a son of Roger Sark and Nancy Ann Bernard. He was a fishing captain. Fishing was his pride and joy and a big part of his life. He enjoyed playing baseball and basketball, hunting, and working out at the gym with his friends. He loved to spend time with his nieces and nephews, and family was his number one priority.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Bobbie-Jo Bernard; daughter, Morgan Peter-Paul; eight siblings, Janine, Jordan, Whitney, Kandace, Olivia, Jake, Kamryn, Michael; five godchildren, Ainslee, Hayven, Kenzlie, Drew, Khloe; paternal grandparents, Mary Ann and Jim Sark; stepmother, Deanna Sark; godparents, Mary Paul and Ronnie Gould; large extended family in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island

He was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Caroline and Walter Bernard; nephew, Rylan McDonald; cousin, Ozzy Clair.
