Gordon Hillier

It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Gordon Hillier, age 76, announce his passing on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the Northside General Hospital in North Sydney. Born in Fortune, Newfoundland on August 24, 1942. Gordon was the son of the late Gordon and Myrtle (Tibbo) Hillier. He worked for many years at the Cape Breton Development Corp, Prince Mine. He could often be found at the local Tim Horton having a coffee and shooting the breeze with his many buddies who will miss him dearly. Gordon leaves behind his children, Jacqueline Scott (Randy) and Donald Hillier (Kim,) both of Sydney, along with their mother Marie, and his daughters, Laura Lee and Lorraine, both of Ontario, their mother the late Rose. He is also survived by his brothers, Carl (Donna), Evan (Karen), Cecil (Carol), all of North Sydney, David (Debrah) of Bridgewater, Eric (Gisela) of Edmonton, Rollie (Laverne) of Prince George; sisters, Beverly (Mark) Aucoin of New Waterford, Marilyn (Casper) Petipas of Edmonton and Colleen Hillier of Manitoba, along with 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, as well as special friend, Bernie Fiander who will dearly miss him. Gordie was predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Myrtle, as well as his sister, Mary Kohler; brother, Albert Hillier, and great-granddaughter, Jaileigh Kwok. A visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 with a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 22 both from Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, 8 Clyde Ave., Sydney Mines.
