A private family burial for the late Freeman Benjamin Williams, 77, Monastery, will be held in St. Peter’s Cemetery at a later date. Mr. Williams died June 24, 2018, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Harry Henry and Elizabeth (Smurridge) Williams. He worked at West Steel Ross in Halifax, Gold Star Christmas Trees, and various fishing boats in Antigonish County. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by three sons, Freeman (Susan), Antigonish; Jeff, Monastery; Dennis (Amy), Sydney; two grandchildren, Kinnon, Maggie; three brothers, Jim (Edna), George (Matilda), Gordon (Irene), all of Halifax; five sisters, Violet Slaunwhite, Halifax; Susan (Peter) Weimann, Ontario; Meta Stroud, Ontario; Shiela May, Ontario; Mildred Boucher, Halifax. He was predeceased by his wife, Susan (Stevenson); brother, Chesley; four brothers-in-law, Merle Slaunwhite, Michael Stroud, Michael May, Bill Boucher.
