It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Franklin Ross MacLeod, age 77, on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney, after a long road with Alzheimer's disease. Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late John 'Hooker' and Loretta (Ross) MacLeod. Frank spent younger years in South Bar, later moving to Warren Ave., New Waterford in his early teens. Frank was predeceased by his wife, Linda Elaine (Crombie) MacLeod. He is survived by sons, Parker, Langley, BC and Scott (Carolann Steele), New Waterford. Frank was 'Poppy' for two beautiful granddaughters, Stephanie (Charlie Murphy), Fall River and Kristen, New Waterford; beloved sisters, Carmen (Alfred) Matheson and Valerie (Dennis) Chiasson; brother-in-law, David 'Woodie' (Phyllis) Crombie as well as one niece and many nephews. Frank was also predeceased by in-laws, James 'Jim' and Christina 'Tina' Crombie and brother-in-law, William 'Bill' Crombie. Frank was a quiet man and a good listener. Frank and Linda enjoyed traveling and as long as Linda made all the arrangements, he was willing to go. Frank retired in 1994 from the NSLC after 25 years. Frank was an avid horseman; he enjoyed his time as an owner/driver at Sydney's Tartan Downs. Frank enjoyed his days at his horse barn in South Bar and enjoyed gardening and swimming at Polar Bear. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral service will be held at Calvin United Church, Hudson Street, New Waterford on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. A luncheon will be held in the Rev. Duncan Roach Fellowship Room with burial to follow in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney. A special thank you to the compassionate care team on 3rd floor Miner's Lane, Harbourstone.
