Ernest 'Ernie' Jewells

Ernest 'Ernie' Jewells
JEWELLS, Ernest 'Ernie' It is with heartfelt sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Ernest “Ernie” Jewells on Monday, July 1, 2019 at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital. Born in Donkin on July 24, 1946, he was the son of the late Ernest and Mary Anne Jewells. Da spent his years living in Donkin and working in the construction and fishing industries. He was a member of the Labourers’ International Union of North America, Local 1115. Da was a kind and gentle soul who loved to laugh, sing and spend time “up the country” fishing and hunting with his many friends. But Da’s biggest love was for his family and his dog Baby. He never failed to say or show how much he loved us. Left to mourn are his children, Tracey (Jerry), Ernie (Lisa) and Tricia (George); grandchildren, Ernie (Shirley), Matthew, Evan and Jorja and great-granddaughter, Sadie. He will also be missed by sisters, Mildred (Ron) and Mary. Besides his parents, Da was predeceased by our mother, Ruby; his sister, Erna Florence “Sissy” and brother, Billy. We would like to extend our thanks to the staff at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital. Da always spoke highly of the doctors, nurses, housekeeping and food service staff and the security guards. Your care and compassion will be forever in our hearts. We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to Aunt Mildred, Ron and Aunt Mary for always being there for Da. In keeping with Da’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Monday, July 8, 2 p.m. in St. Luke’s Anglican Church Cemetry, Port Caledonia. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Patten Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.pattenfuneral.com.
