Edna Martin — Kentville

Edna May Martin – 89, of Kentville, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2017 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on October 28, 1927 in Kentville, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Jemima Johnson. She was a member and supporter of the Kentville Corps of the Salvation Army and had volunteered with the Kentville Thrift Store for over 23 years. She was a member of various women’s groups and enjoyed quilting. She dedicated her life to her family and her church. She was an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays, enjoyed game shows and watching General Hospital. She is survived by three daughters, Sheila (Mervin) Misner; Sherry Martin (Paul Daniels) and Edith Wheaton, all of Kentville; two sons, Maynard (Dianne), Cambridge and Wayne (Penny), Regina; nine grandchildren, Terry, Tony, Jeff, Shawn, Dawn, Melinda, Cindy, Wayne Jr. and Jessica; 25 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Martin; an infant daughter, Christina; a grandson, Ricky; a sister, Susan Martin; an infant sister, Violet; three brothers, Kenneth, Robert and Arthur. There was no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2017 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Burial took place in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville, Kings County. Family flowers only by request. Donations in memory may be made to the IWK Health Centre or the Salvation Army - Kentville Corps.
