It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edith Warren, a dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend on May 15, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, at the age of 92. Born in Francoise, NL, she moved to Ramea, NL as a young girl and then moved with our father and siblings to Louisbourg in 1955. Edith was the daughter of the late Reuben and Sarah (Dollimount) Carter. She was predeceased by her husband, Isaac; daughter, Shirley; son, Isaac Jr. and grandson, Gregory. The last member of her immediate family, Edith was also predeceased by four sisters and one brother. She is survived by her son, Bill (Mary-Lou); daughter, Rita (Jimmie) Price; son, Carter (Ivy); daughter-in-law, Germaine; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. In her early teens, Edith knitted socks for soldiers during World War II and later, many socks and mitts for family and friends. She was a devoted member of St. Bartholomew’s ACW and Church. Edith worked at National Sea Products and Lewis & Co, in Louisbourg and also operated her own hairdressing shop for more than 30 years. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, working in her flower garden and spending summers at the cottage in Catalone. We would like to thank Parkland Cape Breton, Sydney and Seaview Manor, Glace Bay for the wonderful care they provided Mom during her stay with them. Also, for the compassionate care received from the doctors and nurses in the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Funeral service, under the direction of Sydney Memorial Chapel, will be held at St. Bartholomew’s Church, Louisbourg on Saturday, May 18 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Peter Rafuse officiating.
