Earl Huntley Jewers

Funeral service for the late Earl Huntley Jewers, 97, Lochaber, Antigonish County, was held February 9 in Lochaber Centre with Pastor John Luten officiating. Burial will be in Stewart Cemetery, Lochaber, at a later date. Mr. Jewers died February, 6, 2019, in Green Meadows Community Residence, North Grant. Born in Liscomb Mills, he was a son of the late Ross and Nona (Rodenizer) Jewers. He served in the Second World War, in Belgium, Holland, Germany and France with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders, landing on Juno Beach on D-Day. In 2015, he was proud to receive the French Legion of Honour Medal, the highest French order of merit for military and civil merits, as well as his service medals. He travelled and worked with various construction companies, including Stanley Reid Construction, over the years. He loved nature and appreciated all its beauty. Earl was a quiet and humble man who enjoyed interacting with people of all ages. He is survived by daughter, Joan (Keith) Lewis, Lochaber; five grandchildren, Sandy (Krista) Archibald, David Archibald, Susan (Curtis) Mahar; Blair Jewers; Linda (Sandy) Smith; seven great-grandchildren, Carter Mahar, Katelyn and Alexandra Archibald; Lilly, Daniel and Jane Jewers Smith; Kayden Jewers; sister, June MacLean; sister-in-law, Dorothy Jewers; many nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his wife, Marion (Jordan); son, Leigh; brother, Carl; sister, Joyce (Edgar) Nickerson; brother-in-law, Daniel MacLean.
