Funeral service for the late Dr. Joseph Royden Trainor, DDS, 88, Port Hawkesbury, was held August 18 in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury, with Father Conrad Edwards officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Dr. Trainor died August 14, 2018, in Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born May 31, 1930, in Saint John, New Brunswick, he was a son of the late Dr. John Clifford Trainor and Ada Anthony (Foley) Trainor. He graduated from St. F.X. University in 1952 with a BSc and Dalhousie University Dental School in 1956 DDS. He served Port Hawkesbury and surrounding area for 42 years as a family dentist, until his retirement in 1997. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary H. (MacDonald) Trainor, Port Hawkesbury; seven children, Dr. Patty Greencorn (Ian), Maureen, Royden (Peter), Brian, Michael (Jane), Madonna (Eugene), Robert; seven grandchildren, Michael, Marc, Daniel, David and Therese Greencorn; John and Kelley Trainor. He was predeceased by son, John Clifford Trainor, in infancy; sister, Marcia Trainor; two brothers, James Patrick, John Clifford. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice, An Cala Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital or St. Joseph Parish Cemetery Fund. Online condolences: www.haverstocks.com
