Donald Norbert Webb
Funeral service for the late Donald Norbert Webb, 76, Antigonish, was held June 27 in St. Ninian Cathedral with Father Donald MacGillivray and Father Bill Crispo officiating. Mr. Webb died June 21, 2018. Readers at the funeral Mass were Bob King, Kathryn Drysdale and Marilyn Webb. Nick and Marguerite Oxner presented the offertory gifts. Music was provided by Emery Van de Wiel, Paul Morgan MacDonald and Michele Fleiger. Born August 27, 1941, in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Norbert Anderson and Florence Eleanor (King) Webb. As a young man, he was well travelled, living in New York, Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal and Indiana, eventually returning home after the death of his father. He was a well-known local businessman, owning Don’s Sport and Cycle at the Antigonish Mall and Peak Performance Bicycle Shop on Post Road. His true passion was art. His paintings and sculptures, from the representational to the abstract and conceptual, expressed the diversity of his nature. He was an avid reader with a wide range of interests, a committed cyclist who could often be seen cycling around Cape George in recent years and a keen fisherman for mackerel and striped bass on the Northumberland Strait, or Atlantic salmon on the Margaree River with his brother John. He is survived by sister, Maureen Fleiger (David), Edmonton; two brothers, Francis (Elva) Antigonish; John, McArra’s Brook; two nieces, Michele Fleiger (Paul) Edmonton; Jacqueline Geremia, Calgary, nephew, Shane Fleiger (Alma) Calgary; two grand-nephews, Andrew and Liam Brown, Edmonton; two grand-nieces Kathleen and Morgan Geremia, Calgary. He was predeceased by nephew, Frank Fleiger. Memorial donations may be made to The Stephen Lewis Foundation. Online condolences: www.MacIsaacs.ca
