Funeral service for the late Don Cornell, 84, Louisdale, was held February 4 in St. Louis Parish Church, Louisdale. Burial will be held at a later date. Mr. Cornell died January 29, 2019, in QE11 Health Science Centre, Infirmary Site, Halifax. Born in Belville, Ontario, he was the son of the late Gerald and Eula (Brown) Cornell. He served in the Canadian Navy for 10 years and worked in the Pulp and Paper Industry in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland for 25 years. He was also a business man, community leader, past president of InRich, was actively involved for 50 years with the Louisdale Lions Club and was the original founding Charter President. He was a lifelong, passionate and devoted fan of the Boston Bruins. His love of hockey led to coaching and refereeing until he retired at age 69 as the oldest referee in N.S. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret (Samson); five children, Wade (Gabrielle), Brooklyn; Glen (Debbie), Middle Sackville; Darren (Janet), West Kelowna, British Columbia; Theresa (Anthony), Scarborough, Ontario; Shawn (Debbie), Middle Sackville; seven grandchildren, Melissa, Jessica, David, Amanda, Margaret, Jared, Aaron; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Covert, Ontario. He was predeceased by granddaughter, Laeha. Memorial donations may be made to Louisdale Lions Club or the Canadian Legion. Online condolences: www.chboudreau.com
