Deborah Diane (Hall) Blackie

Deborah Diane (Hall) Blackie
With broken hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Deborah Diane Blackie, age 65, on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, with her family by her side. Born in Sault Ste. Marie, on January 4, 1954, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (MacKinnon) Hall. Debbie’s family was the light of her life, especially her only grandson, Regan. When not spending time with him, she could be found baking one of her many delicious recipes. In her earlier years, Debbie treasured her time spent working at Fun Time Pre-School. Debbie is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Dave, their only daughter, Terra (Brian) Cousins, and grandson, Regan. She is also survived by her brother, Jamie (Maggie) AB., and brothers-in-law, Jimmy and Charlie Blackie. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her very special aunt, Fanny Prince. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass to celebrate Debbie’s life will be held on Monday, February 18, 2019, at 10 a.m., in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. James Oliver officiating. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in Debbie’s memory may be made to St. Joseph’s Cemetery Fund or a charity of one’s choice. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
