Funeral service for the late David ‘Conrad’ DeGruchy, 52, Port Hastings, was held May 26 in St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Havre Boucher, with Father Allan MacPhie officiating. Mr. DrGruchy died May 19, 2018, as a result of a motorcycle accident. Readers at the funeral Mass were Kristie Pettipas, Tiffany Hargreaves, Morgan MacEachern and Mitchel Degruchy. Altar servers were Hughie O’Neill and Mike Hanlon. Music was provided by Ty Wallace, organist Sandra Hanlon and St. Paul Parish Choir. Pallbearers were Craig Langley, Greg Middleton, Darren Harb and Greg Gillis. Born August 17, 1965, he was a son of Marcella and Charlie DeGruchy. He lived in Havre Boucher most of his life. He was employed by Bay Tank and Vessel Canada Ltd., at Nustar Terminals, Point Tupper site. He was a mechanic/ equipment operator, labourer and everything in between. He was a proud member of Cape Breton Labourers Local 1115 and the Operating Engineers Local 721. He was a founding member of the Highlanders Motorcycle Club in Havre Boucher, in which he was a member for 20 years. Besides his parents, he is survived by his partner, Ashley Cass; three sons, Avery, Jakob, Quinten; grandmother, Cecelia Power; two sisters, Yolanda DeGruchy (Stewart), Charlene Pettipas (Michael); brother, Richard DeGruchy (Deidra); Stephanie MacDonald (mother of Avery and Jakob); nine nieces and nephews, Tiffany, Dylan, Morgan (Nicole), Kaitlin (Graham), Kristie (Marcie), Cassidy (Steven), Mitchell, Candace, Richie (Laura); many aunts, uncles cousins and extended family members.
