We regrettably announce the passing of Daphne Hopkins, 61, on November 1, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Daphne was a Girl Guide Leader, Camp Leader, Sunday School Teacher, and a Secretary/Treasurer for Home League and most recently served as a Soldier for the Salvation Army. Daphne was kind, generous and always put others ahead of herself. She loved poetry and wrote numerous poems for family and friends. Daphne was also known for her beautiful handmade gifts which were always made with love. She was also an avid animal lover, puppeteer, amateur photographer, wonderful baker and homemaker. Daphne also loved to hunt and fish with her father. Daphne was predeceased by her parents, Barbara Hopkins (Sturge) and Eric Hopkins. She is survived by her fiancé, Louis Hibbert and close friends and relatives, Sophie Stokes (Sturge), Iliza Jordan (Sturge), and Irene Andrews (Sturge). There will no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. Services will be held at the Salvation Army, King Street, New Waterford, at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 with Major Rocky and Janice Bishop officiating.
