Daniel Brian "Bugsy" Charles — New Minas

Daniel Brian "Bugsy" Charles
Age 31, of New Minas, was lost to us in a tragic motor vehicle accident on Friday, August 9, 2019 near Port Mouton. Born in Whitehorse, Yukon, he was the eldest son of Emily Jane Shaw, New Minas, and Brian Eric Charles, Whitehorse. Daniel was an honor roll graduate from NSCC Kingstec and was currently working for Party Central, New Minas. He also worked with Oceans Edge Lobster Pound, Salmon River. He previously lived in Fort McMurray for 10 years where he had a community of close friends who considered him, "Bugsy", family. He is also survived by his brothers, Jeffrey, Whitehorse; Tim, Barrington Passage; maternal grandparents, David and Joy Shaw, Greenwich; paternal grandmother, Joan Charles, Winnipeg; many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Gordon Charles. He leaves behind his best friend and companion, his beloved Bluenose Pitbull Gauge who already doesn't know where his Daniel has gone. Daniel was fiercely loyal to those he loved and had a place in his heart for children. He had hoped to be a father one day. He took up boxing and worked with troubled youth teaching them the art as a form of therapy. He was always on duty when his ailing grandmother needed assistance and would gently help her to her feet and walk by her side with her walker. His mother couldn't have made it through the difficult time without him when both her parents went to a nursing home. He kept her company, took care of the lawn chores and heavy lifting and even did much of the cooking. Life will never be the same without you Daniel, and there will always and forever be an ache in our hearts. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 16th in White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Rev. Mark Shaw officiating. Burial will take place in Berwick Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to Cali's K9 Rescue Society, Kingston; Humane Society of Canada; The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada or a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. On-line condolences and inquiries may be directed to: www.whitefamilyfuneralhome.com
