Clarence Macmillan

Clarence Macmillan
CLARENCE (BUTCH) DANIEL MACMILLAN It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Clarence “Butch” MacMillan of New Glasgow who passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit of Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow after a courageous battle with cancer and a bilateral amputation. Born August 17, 1954 in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Butch was the son of the late Burns and Shirley (Skinner) MacMillan. Butch was employed at Michelin Tire Corp. and retired in January, 2008 after 30 years of service. During his retirement years he enjoyed ATVing with members of the PCATV Club, and what he called his “simple daily routine” of walking his dogs Bailey and Buddy in Trenton Park and Parkdale walking trails. He will always be remembered for his kindness and generosity especially to his neighbours who he helped on a daily basis and for the neighbourhood get togethers. He always enjoyed people coming to his garage for a drink, a chat and to sign their name to a lobster trap he kept in the corner. He kept an extremely positive attitude in all situations which carried with him till the end despite his numerous health issues. Butch is survived by his loving wife Norma Jean (Lahey) of 26 years; his daughters Sacha (Terry), Dartmouth, Allison (Courtney) Alberta, and his grandchildren Aden, Carter and Dublin. He is also survived by his sisters Starr (John Price), Debbie (Joe Burke), Louisbourg, as well as several nieces, nephews and longtime friends. Cremation to take place. Visitation will be held at the First United Church in Louisbourg, Cape Breton on Saturday, March 17th, 2018 from 1 to 2 p.m. with a Celebration of Life immediately following. Reception to follow at Calvin Hall, Warren Street, Louisbourg. Interment at Loch End Cemetery, Catalone at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Church in Louisbourg or to a charity of your choice. www.angusfuneralhomes.com
